چکیده
This study examines the isolation and characterization of phenol-degrading-bacteria, Five isolates named C2, P4, M4, O3, S3, from effluent ceramic factories (C2), petrochemical (P4), pulp paper mill (M4), crude oil (O3) sewage water (S3) have been investigated. These were characterized depending on their morphological, biochemical characteristics, only one isolate was as a Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, nonmotile, cocci-shaped bacterium might be Micrococcus sp. two (Pseudomonas sp.: (P4&S3) recogniced Gram-negative, motile short rod-shaped isolates(Bacillus (C2& O3) idenihied long rod- shape bacterium. The five bacterial able to utilize phenol sole carbon source. checked for growth minimal salt medium amended with different concentrations phenol. tolerant grow at higher they investigated ability degrade Among degrading isolates, can tolerate up 1500 ppm .of concentrations, 90% within 72 hrs. optimum temperature pH 35 0C 7, respectively. yeast extract ammonium chloride is best nitrogen source degradation phenol, P4 efficient in removing about initial 1000 48 hrs., had tolerance concentration high ppm. results indicated that presumptive Pseudomonas spp. possesses promising potential treating phenolic wastewater

Phenol is one of the major aromatic pollutants among variety of toxic compounds. Phenol is a man- made as well as a naturally occurring aromatic compound and an important intermediate in the biodegradation of natural and industrial aromatic compounds. To clean up the aromatic contaminated sites a bioremediation method is considered as an economical and safe approach for the environment. In this...

Background : Phenol and it’s derivatives were removed by physicochemical methods in the past but nowadays biological treatment has priority. Bacteria with the rapid proliferation in the presence of phenol and it’s derivatives can remove them in a good manner. The aim of this project is isolation and identification of bacteria that degrade phenol from water and sediment of Kor river and also inv...
